Privacy Policy

Short version
Terrace collects as little as it can. There's no account, no advertising and no tracking. If you allow notifications, Terrace keeps two things on its server — your device's push token and the team you follow — so it can tell you when your team's match finishes. Apple counts that as data linked to you, and so does Terrace; the App Store's privacy details say the same.
What Terrace does not do
- No account creation or sign-in.
- No collection of names, emails or contact information.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party code in the app that does any of those.
- No sharing or selling of your data to anyone, ever.
What's stored on your device
Your chosen team, your accent colour and which results you've revealed are stored on your device, and they sync between your own devices: through Apple's standard iCloud key-value storage if you use iCloud, and directly between your iPhone and Apple Watch when they're near each other. Your accent colour and what you've revealed stay on your devices and are never sent to us. The team you follow is sent to Terrace's own server, because looking up your scores and sending your full-time notification both need to know it — see below.
Match data
Terrace fetches fixtures and results through its own small server, which in turn gets the data from football-data.org, a third-party football data provider. The app asks only for the team you've selected. football-data.org is never told anything about you.
Like any server on the internet, Terrace's sees your IP address in order to answer — whether the app is asking, or this website's Status page, which checks it from your browser. It isn't stored with anything. Cloudflare, which runs the server, uses it for a few seconds at a time to stop any one address flooding it, and records it in its security log if an address is blocked for that.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Apple issues Terrace a push token for your device. That token and the team you follow are stored on Terrace's server, because a full-time notification has to reach the people following the teams that just played. Nothing else is stored with them: no account, no name, no email, no advertising identifier.
The server is never told whether you use No spoilers. It sends everyone the same notification, which never contains the score — your device decides whether to fill it in. A notification that fails therefore costs you a score rather than spoiling one.
How long it's kept, and removing it
Your token and team are kept until one of these happens:
- You turn off Terrace's notifications in iOS Settings. The next time you open Terrace, it asks the server to delete them.
- You delete the app. The next time Terrace has a notification for your team, Apple reports that the device no longer accepts it, and the server deletes them then.
- You change team: the old team is replaced, not kept.
Because Terrace doesn't know who you are, it can't find your record from an email — these are the ways to remove it. The server's operational logs record counts and outcomes, such as how many notifications were sent after a match, never your token or IP address, and Cloudflare deletes them after three days.
Who handles it
Terrace is a personal project run by one person, Frank Reade, in the United States (see About), who is responsible for the data described here. Three services handle it on Terrace's behalf:
- Cloudflare runs Terrace's server and this website, and stores the token and team.
- Apple delivers notifications, and syncs your settings through iCloud if you use it.
- football-data.org supplies the match data, and receives nothing about you.
Because Terrace is run from the United States, and Cloudflare and Apple work worldwide, your token and team may be stored and handled outside your own country, including in the United States.
